Student Regrets During Freshers Week

During Freshers week you will undoubtedly feel a mixture of different emotions from ranging from excitement to worry. Freshers week is a unique experience and the memories will last forever. You don’t want to look back and regret this time for the things you didn’t do due to being shy and not mixing or taking part in activities.

Here we have some tips to help you avoid the regrets that many students have and help you enjoy freshers with less worry.

Not Budgeting

Many students make the mistake of blowing much of their student loan in the very first week. Budget your finances so that it can last you for the time you need it to. Always keep some aside in case of any unforeseen expenses such as for books, any extra bills or events that charge.

Thinking About Home Too Much

Try to keep your focus on the here and now and the life you have at university. Your loved ones back home will still only be a phone call or message away. Keep yourself active whether that be going for a job, exploring your new surroundings or being around your new friends.

Being Shy

Every other fresher is in the same boat as you and this will be a new experience for them too. They too will likely be feeling shy, nervous and worried about the adventure that is ahead of them. Don’t sit alone in your room, go out and attend events such as the society fair where you will get the chance to meet people with similar interests to you. You will also have flatmates who are in the same position as you and it’s worth suggesting going out during the first week so that you can get to know each other better.

Not Signing Up To The GP Surgery

You should sign up to a GP surgery swiftly. Freshers flu is an actual real ailment and you don’t want to further any sulking by feeling poorly and being away from home. You don’t want to have to travel all the way back home feeling poorly and potentially missing out on events during your first week.
