Staying Fit Whilst At University

During the first few weeks at university, it’s easy to get carried away with the stereotypical student antics and forget about healthy living. Once the novelty wears off, you might be thinking about how to keep fit. If you’re worried about keeping fit whilst at university then here are some helpful tips to stay in shape.

Eat Healthy

Cutting out takeaways is not only a healthy choice but it will also save you money. If you enjoy your snacks then consider replacing the junk food with healthier alternatives. Get your five a day of fresh fruit and vegetables. Consider having protein bars, shakes and healthy breakfast bars. Start your day the right way with some healthy breakfast cereal.

Get Outdoors

Get some running shoes and go for a jog around one of the local parks. You could download one of the popular running apps such as Runtastic to keep a check on your progress, including how many calories you burn. You could also take part in free events such as tennis or football. There are a number of apps that focus on the steps you do each day. Going for a walk will not only be good for fitness but it can also be beneficial mentally.

Join A Sports Team

Your university will have a whole host of different sports teams you can join. Consider going to the societies fair to get an idea of the different sporting activities you have available to you. You don’t have to be a professional to take part as they will accommodate to people of all abilities.

Get Plenty of Sleep

You should be getting around 8 hours of sleep each night. If you sleep for only a few hours each night then this could impact your health and study. Sleep is a vital part of a healthy lifestyle so make sure you don’t stay up too late!
